Central Vacuum System
For many consumers the cost of a central vacuum system, whether it’s being installed into your existing home or being installed in your new home, is well worth the price. This price is however substantially more than you would spend on a traditional upright or canister style vacuum.
Central vacuum canisters are generally located in the basement or the garage. Common sizes of canisters are 6 and 7 gallon and can be either bagged and bag less, both types work very well. Under normal use you may only empty the canister or take the bag out every 3 or 4 months. The tubing is installed throughout your home with outlets spaced out approximately every 750 sq. ft. of floor space. TIP: When designing the outlet locations consider where your furniture will be placed to ensure easy access.
With many units costing in excess of $1000 it would be wise to ensure that your system comes with a strong warranty. Specifically closely review the warranty coverage on the canister and the power nozzle.
